Like the prodigal son, there are times God lets us go down the wrong road so we can realize our mistakes willfully return to Him. I had to go down this road to be fully convinced that nothing will ever go right when I work without or go behind God.
We can’t always project the image of strength. In a fallen world, even the strongest need some assistance to get by. Fortunately, for the Christian, there is help through God’s Spirit; there is help in God’s word and there is help in God’s Church.
The seed doesn’t grow until its uncomfortable under the soil. A pregnant lady has to face the discomfort of labour before going home with a baby. Throughout life, the principle is established. Before growth, someone/thing has to be uncomfortable!
The principle of strength in numbers rings true for every Christian. Scripture says where there is unity; one shall chase a thousand, and two ten thousand (Leviticus 26:8; Deuteronomy 32:30). Each part of Christ’s body cannot function in isolation!
Like the rich young ruler in Mark 10:17-31, who was scared of a life without possessions, I too didn’t want to give up my comfort. It’s not that I didn’t want to grow, its that the risk was too much.
I could make plans, but God is in charge of their outcome. My mere human efforts could never bring about the fulfilment of God’s promises in my life. Abraham and Moses learnt this the hard way and so did I.
