The God I Know // Do Something.

#WorshipWednesday – Praise the Lord in spirit and in truth.

We have TWO songs for this week’s #WorshipWednesday. One song is about receiving love from God while the other is about obeying God’s instruction to express love to others.

The first song is The God I Know by Love & The Outcome. I understand it’s a very contemporary tune, and one most of us would take with a grain of salt, but it really speaks to me of the freedom that comes with truly knowing God and experiencing His no-strings-attached love.

This week, let’s introduce others to freedom through the God we know! My favourite lyric from this song is: “He showed me how to break up with my doubt” – This is really something God dealt with me about. I was in a love-hate relationship with doubt and I really had to learn to give up all my worries and trust in Him fully. The bible verse that comes to mind when I listen to this song is:

Cast your burden on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never permit
  the righteous to be moved.

– Psalm 55:22 [ESV]

LOVE & THE OUTCOME – THE GOD I KNOW

Our second song for this week is Do Something by Matthew West. This song really embodies the instruction to take God’s love to the corners of the earth. We must not be selfish with the love we receive from God, we must also give to others. The bible verse that springs to mind when I think of this song is:

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

– Matthew 10:8 [KJV]

Our world is full of suffering, it’s no longer enough to blame God and ask Him to do something, when we’re already empowered with the Holy Spirit to help others. It is popular to say we are God’s hands and feet, but how many of us actually live this in reality? My favourite lyric is where he sings, God already did something “I Created You”. That really hit me the first time I heard it. I have been created to DO SOMETHING. How about you?

True love is found in deep sacrifice. There is nobody who is not capable of DOING SOMETHING and changing the world, little by little. Start with your corner of the earth and watch God transform it into something beyond your imagination!

DO SOMETHING – MATTHEW WEST

I hope that these songs edify you and bring you joy. I hope they spring you into action. Till next week,

Grace & Peace!!!
