#WorshipWednesday – Praise the Lord in spirit and in truth.
From His fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. By grace we have been saved through faith. And this is not our own doing; it is the gift of God. We have this treasure in vessels of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
— II Corinthians 4:7, John 1:16, Ephesians 2:8 [ESV]
Our song for this week’s #WorshipWednesday is a spin on what is undoubtedly the most famous hymn of all time: John Newton’s Amazing Grace.
The verses highlighted above speak to different important aspects of grace:
We have all received it, no man is exempt (Romans 3:23)
It is the ultimate gift of God, it is not our doing. We cannot boast about grace.
It is a treasure in vessels of clay, i.e. us as human vessels and the human vessel of Jesus Christ who is our forerunner in grace.
This version of the song adds new accents, lyrics, verses and completely turns the familiar tune into a more contemporary rendition without losing the essence of the worship. This is definitely one of Hillsong’s better productions.
Do enjoy the song and be blessed as you worship!
