O Come, O Come, Immanuel.

#WorshipWednesday – Praise the Lord in spirit and in truth.

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of thy land, O Immanuel.

—  Isaiah 7:14; 8:8 (KJV)

This week’s Christmas Album is: This is Christmas – Oslo Gospel Choir and our favorite song in this album is: Ding Dong Merrily On High.

We’re also throwing in different versions of the acclaimed: O Come, O Come Immanuel. The Author of the original latin lyrics to this song are unknown because it’s such an old hymn. However, there have been many and I mean MANY contemporary covers of this song that we should not miss out on this christmas. It’s been so hard to choose, but I’ve tried to put some of the best ones out there, in latin, acapella and instrumentals on this list.

The Lindsey Stirling & Kuha’o Case version of this hymn is particularly touching to watch, especially knowing that the pianist is so gifted and blessed.

The Matt Maher version of this wonderful hymn is one that should definitely be on this list, it’s ever so contemporary and yet so wonderful and in tune with the Christmas Spirit.

I particularly love the Forte Femme version of O Come, O Come Immanuel because it’s pure acapella and it incorporates my favorite christmas hymn: Carol Of The Bells.

May you be blessed as you worship!
