#MeditationMonday‬ – Out of the abundance of a man’s heart, his mouth speaks.

Hello dear reader, we hope your week started on a good note and if not, we wish you the grace & mercies of Christ to get through it. Today’s #meditationmonday verse is:

In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge; Let me never be ashamed; In Your righteousness deliver me. Incline Your ear to me, rescue me quickly; Be to me a rock of strength, A stronghold to save me. For You are my rock and my fortress; For Your name’s sake You will lead me and guide me. You will pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me, For You are my strength. Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have ransomed me, O LORD, God of truth.

— Psalm 31: 1-5 (NASB)

There are no illustrations today, no deep revelation of anything. Just this, plain, easy to read scripture because we’re actually going to do some meditating this week. This passage of scripture means different things to everyone who reads it because we are all in vastly different situations, or dilemmas but the central theme here is clear:

Take refuge in the Lord & call out to Him for deliverance.

Brethren, God is able and willing to help those who take refuge in His name, He can do exceedingly and abundantly above all that we can ever ask for or dream of (Ephesians 3:20). God is our rock and fortress and we know how powerful this is from our previous post: 4 Unpopular Names of God. The Rock & Redeemer gives His people refuge and frees them from the hand of the enemy.

No matter how bad you think it is, God is able to save you from whatever it is that has taken your peace, so cry out to God like David did in this psalm. Whatever it is you are going through, Psalm 31 is inspires us not to lose hope. We must keep calling out to God for He is the only one who is able to save. Pills, alcohol, cutting, boyfriends/girlfriends etc are only a way of stalling or hiding our wounds.  As a matter of fact they often make things worse by creating strongholds in our minds and becoming barriers to our deliverance and freedom. They are worthless idols that can’t restore our peace and wholeness.

The psalmist says in verse 6:

I have hated those who regard useless idols; But I trust in the LORD.

Let us put our trust in the Lord and not in idols. Only He can truly save us; only He can restore us and make us whole again. No matter what kind of messy situation we’e gotten ourselves into, as long as we run back to God, ask for forgiveness and and take refuge in Him, He will surely deliver us out of the hands of our enemies.

Meditate deeply on Psalm 31 this week and call out to the Lord to intervene in your situation, only He can save. Only Jesus can save. 

Prayer: LORD, I have taken refuge in You; Hear me when I call and rescue me. Deliver me Oh Lord,  let me never be ashamed. Be to me a rock of strength, A stronghold to save me. Lead me and guide me for Your name’s sake. I commit my spirit into Your hands, and I thank you for you have ransomed me, O LORD, God of truth. In Jesus name I pray. (Amen)
