1 John 4:18 says,

“there is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” (NIV)

If we walk in love in all that we do in our lives, we are made perfect and we fulfill all that God asks of us as seen in Deuteronomy 10:12 which also says,

“And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul”

We know that we are able to obey this commandment because 2 Timothy 1:7 says,

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

The “spirit of fear” in this verse that God has not given to us is the fear of men. The fear that causes us to be afraid, is a fear of men and of circumstances. The fear of God is one of power that enables us to have a sound mind. A sound mind is a healthy mind that is fortified against the fear of men and circumstances.

The fear of God enables us to walk in love and helps us serve Him will all our heart and soul.

1 John 4:8 says, “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love”

Have we thought about love lately? Love is the basis of all things in Christ.

In Ephesians 3:17, Apostle Paul prays that we be rooted and grounded in Love!

Perfect love is important in casting out the Fear of Men and Helping us Fear the Lord insead.

In John 3:16, love came before giving when Jesus was given to the world, and love is the first fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22.

Rom 5:5 tells us that God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us. Therefore, as Christians we have been given the power to love.

If we walk in perfect love, that the only fear that will be in our hearts is the fear of God!
