#TalkingThursday – If you don’t talk about Jesus who will?
Persecution has always been a part of the Christian life. It was directly promised to us in scripture.
“Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.” — John 15:20
“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” — 2 Timothy 3:12
Nevertheless, we stand firm because we know there is something glorious waiting at the end.
Matthew 5:10 — “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matt 5:12 — “Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”
Those who are in countries where we can openly and publicly declare our faith should rejoice and give glory to God and also pray for God to comfort and protect our brothers and sisters who live in places where they have to worship God in secrecy because the persecution upon them is so great.
Romans 8:35: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”
2 Corinthians 3:10 “Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed”
With these verses in mind let’s pray that our brothers and sisters facing persecution will be brave and that the efforts of the enemy will not frustrate the church.
We sympathise greatly with the family of this young man in Pakistan who was killed because he was christian, (Read the article here)
I hope that as we read this article our spirits are emboldened and our desire to serve the Lord is increased.
God Bless You!
