Living Our Identity in Christ.

#MeditationMonday‬ – Out of the abundance of a man’s heart, his mouth speaks.

Many of us are lost because we either do not know, understand or remember our Identity in Christ. This is a very big issue we will keep coming back to here at TG4Ji.

We ask you to meditate on Romans 8 v 9-11 and Colossians 3

Colossians 3, is a good summary of what our identity in Christ should be like and reading those verses, it is easy to say “well if everyone did this, the word would be at peace!”

However, the reason why many of us find it difficult is because we try to operate by our own strength. We can fulfil all that is asked of us in Colossians 3 but only through the Holy Spirit and this is where Romans 8 v 9-11 becomes important.

Colossians 3 says to set our minds on heavenly things and not earthly things (v 2) and Romans 8 tells us that we operate in the realm of the spirt and not the realm of the flesh (v 9).

It is quite clear that these two pieces of scripture really complement each other. We need to be dependent on the Holy Spirit if we really want to fulfil our identities in Christ.

If we want to live how Christ wants us to live, we look to Colossians 3 as a starting point and whenever we feel like we can’t do it all on our own, we go to Romans 8 v 9 – 11 and remember that the Holy Spirit is always there to help us.

Before we were Christians, the only thing we had to help us do good was our determination and will power but now, because we are Christians the Holy Spirit makes us supercharged (through Grace) so we can walk in our Christlike Identities.

Remember, Life is a Battle. If you do not know, understand or remember your identity, you can’t know which side you are on and you will become a casualty. Don’t let that be your portion, cling to the Holy Spirit and walk upright in your identity today!

God Bless You!
